History

Owned and curated by Melisa Western, CheckMate began as a dream to build an artistic space for the creative-minded in WA's South West region.

Inspired by the studios and galleries in cities nationwide, Melisa has been able to bring art and creativity to Bunbury locals through her workshops ranging from kids drawing and painting to adult life drawing events, painting, pottery and resin.

With events and artists from all over the Southwest of Western Australia holding work in her gallery, the space has become a cultural hotspot within the region.
